The Leadership & Service students participated in an activity about socioeconomic classes and the difficulties that different classes face. They were randomly sorted into either lower, middle, or upper class and assigned to build a community with their provided resources. The lower class groups had the least amount of space, less money and building resources, and stricter patrolling by the “sheriffs”. The upper class group got twice the space of the lower class groups, more money and resources, and were given much more freedom with the rules. The lower class group found it much more difficult to build their community with the disadvantages that they were given.
